Painting an Eagle - Summer Sky

I created this painting of an eagle in flight for a client. I rarely paint birds and landscapes but I truly enjoyed doing this painting and I wanted to share the process with you. The funny part is that my client wanted a bigger eagle so I redid the painting and it turned out entirely different then this one. She ask for a bolder painting so I did an orange background. She love it but I personally prefer the ocean scenery and the smaller eagle. I might add this painting in my Pause and Pain t portfolio for workshops but I am not sure yet. I think that if you are a beginner and never painted before I would recommend starting with the simple silhouette. Here are some easy steps for you: Trace your eagle. Enlarge the print size according to the size of your canvas. I recommend a smaller canvas like 9 X 14 for example. Paint the entire background a light blue. Mix a little blue in a lot of white! Use about 10 drops of water in your paint for transparency. You can always add textu
